Outfit: New Year’s Eve!
January 1, 2013
The Princess and I celebrated the end of 2012/beginning of 2013 with Champagne and dinner. We went to a restaurant just a few minutes walk from us so I got to wear high heels! I of course took my outfit photos 4 drinks too late, so they’re kind of cruddy.

And the tipsy back view. And no good shot of my awesome shoes.

A view of the restaurant through liquor coloured glasses:

and another,

And me trying and failing to get a photo of my jewellery.

1 instance of slightly inappropriate touching!

Outfit: Sheer and heels
November 14, 2012

I wore this out to dinner – that’s pretty much the only time I’ve been taking outfit photos these days! – with The Princess. We arrived slightly early for our reservation and part of me hoped that we’d have to sit and wait at the bar for a bit since as soon as you sit at a table your outfit is hidden behind the table and tablecloths! Instead, we were seating immediately and I didn’t get to prance around as I had wanted.

Outfit: The last warm day
November 10, 2012

I wore this out to dinner with the Princess. They are headless on account of my taking the pictures after we got back and being a little drunk at the time. I didn’t get the camera angle quite right and my head looks ginormous uncropped. I also forgot to turn around at all, and knew better than to try to get a good shot of my shoes. I have to get ready earlier so I can take sober pics.

See how good I’m getting at wearing rings? I fiddled with them a bit, but I like to fidget so it works, better than fussing with my hair until it’s an unintentional afro.

Outfit: Striped leather and cashmere
June 4, 2012

I wore this out to dinner with the Princess. I built the outfit from the shoes up – since the day before I blistered my feet with yet another pair of sensible shoes. Not once has a pair of high heels marred my skin, yet flats – the shoes that are supposed to be kind and gentle – have a 50/50 chance of doing damage. Errrgggh!!!

The skirt is made up of 1/2 cm leather panels stitched onto thick jersey. There’s a lot of give to this garment, it’s a perfect way to maintain ones dignity while wearing ‘buffet pants.’

I know, nobody likes when slender gals complain about their weight, but … what the hell is going on with my midsection? That is a pudge I didn’t expect. Thank goodness for buffet skirts.

I bought this bracelet at a psychic fair jewellery booth when I was about 15, which was 19 years ago! It was nestled among polished rocks, mood rings, phallic lengths of quartz, Eye of Horus pendants, and a bunch of stuff with snakes on them, and it couldn’t have cost more than $20 – probably more like $12. It’s one of the very few things I still have from my high school years.

I love these shoes! Relax, that thing on my right heel isn’t a weird patch of dry skin, it’s a clear Bandaid protecting my sensible-shoe wound.

Outfit: African elephants at twilight, YLF Challenge Day 1
April 30, 2012

This is my take on the Inspired By Nature challenge, organised by BellaRemixes and taking place at YouLookFab. The inspiration for Day 1 is African elephants at twilight, Chobe National Park, Botswana by Frans Lanting.

I wound up ignoring the elephants for the most part, and concentrated on the varying shades of mauve in the picture. I went with brown instead of purple – since I don’t own any purple – as my dark hue, and mixed in a few pinks.

The dangling belt was initially going to be my elephant trunk, but I didn’t like it flapping around. Also, I really need to invest in a steamer – I know I’m never going to iron this shirt.
